Slimline Card Meets Forever Fern Bundle

Hello and thank you for stopping by to check things out!

This is my final project for this week's blog posts featuring the Forever Fern Bundle.  It will certainly not be my last project made as this is such a beautiful and versatile set!  And as you can see from the different projects I've made this week, just because it is a leaf stamp set, does not mean that you are restricted to using only green tones.  I used bright colours for a more spring/summer feel and then earthy tones for a more autumn look.  You could even use blues and grays if you wanted a more winter-like feel to your card (it's too early to talk about winter though, but I just wanted to throw that in there as an option!)

For this slimline card, I started out with a Whisper White piece of cardstock measuring 7" x 8-1/2".  I then scored and folded it at 3-1/2" so that my card base measures 3-1/2" x 8-1/2".  And if you are wondering what you would do for envelopes for these trendy cards, you can either make one out of a coordinating piece of Designer Series Paper (how fun!) or they fit nicely in the #10 business-size envelopes.

I then took my Early Espresso piece of cardstock (3-1/4" x 8-1/4") and used one of the Greenery Embossing Folders (they come as a 2-pack).  For this card, I used the one that has the design at the top and bottom of the folder.  I kept the end of my piece of paper near the fold of the embossing folder so that my embossed images are at one end and about 3/4 of the way down.

I adhered my cardstock scraps to an adhesive sheet before I die cut them.  When I first made this card, I just used tombow and the fine tip glue pen to glue the pieces down, but I was not happy with the end result as some of the excess glue snuck around the leaves and even after it dried, you could still see it surrounding some of the shapes.  If you have not tried the adhesive sheets yet, I highly recommend that you add them to your next order!  I'm not sure how I have crafted this long without trying them out!  They make your life so much easier, especially with intricate dies such as leaves.

I then used the Forever Flourishing dies (it comes with the Forever Fern bundle if you purchase both the stamp set and the coordinating dies) to cut out my leaves.  The biggest leaf was cut out of Cajun Craze, the medium sized leaf was cut out of vellum and then the tiny leaves as well as the accent pieces were cut using Pumpkin Pie, Bumblebee and Copper Foil Sheets.

I stamped the greeting in Early Espresso on a 1" piece of whisper white cardstock and cut one end with the Banner Triple punch.  I also stamped the inside corner of the card using cajun craze, pumpkin pie and bumblebee inks.

I then carefully peeled the backing off of my die-cut shapes and adhered them to my Early Espresso piece of cardstock in a pattern meant to mimic the falling of leaves in the Fall.  I then adhered this layer to my original whisper white card base.  To finish off my card, I popped up my greeting using Stampin' Dimensionals.

If you're excited to make a card similar to mine based on this colour scheme, I have included the links below for the colours I used in making this exact project.  However, feel free to switch up the colours to your own taste.  Just click on any of the links below and it will take you to my online shop where you can purchase current Stampin' Up! products 24/7.  Enjoy!
