Forever Fern Fancy Fold (Gate Fold) Card

Hello and welcome to another project using the Forever Fern stamp set by Stampin' Up! in the Annual Catalogue!

I saw a Gate Fold card early this year and I love them for those extra-special people and/or occasions!  This particular Gate Fold card is a larger size than our regular cards measuring 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" finished.  There are a couple of options for envelopes - you can find larger sized envelopes at your local office supply store, you could make your own custom envelope out of a coordinating piece of cardstock or designer series paper (how pretty would that be?) or you could use a clear bag (I use the ones offered by Stampin' Up! that measure 6" x 8" ) and I glue them to a gift bag so that you get a beautifully decorated gift bag and greeting card all in one!

For this particular card, I started with a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock measuring 7-1/2" x 11".  I then scored it at 2-1/2" on either side so that when you fold in your panels, you have a card that measures 5-1/2" wide.  To finish the panels, I just adhered a piece of the beautiful Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper measuring 2" x 7" to a Pretty Peacock piece of cardstock measuring 2-1/4" x 7-1/4".

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock (5-1/4" x 7-1/4") and adhered it to the big center panel.  I then stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Pretty Peacock, Pear Pizzazz and Just Jade on the 2 opposing corners and adhered it to the Pretty Peacock layer.  The inside sentiment is stamped in Pretty Peacock.  (And just a quick aside - Pretty Peacock is an in-colour, but we have already had the joy of playing with it for a year and we only have a year left until it retires as it is one of our 2019-2021 In Colours).

Now, for the icing on the cake (or belly band in our case!) I took a 1" x 11" strip of Pretty Peacock cardstock and layered a thin piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock on the top.  You could also use ribbon for this piece.  I didn't have any Pear Pizzazz ribbon, so paper it was!  The gold piece is from the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty Paper - part of the Forever Greenery Suite.  (If you look at the image in the Supply List, there are all sorts of gorgeous shapes that you get and they are very striking when paired with the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper).  I just gently folded my band around my card with the ends in the front so that I could adhered them to the gold piece.  Make sure that you give your band a little extra on the sides, otherwise it is very difficult to slide it on and off your card.  You want it to fit snug, but not too tight that you can't slide it easily with a little pressure.  The front sentiment is also stamped in Pretty Peacock on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that is die cut using the Stitched Rectangles (certainly another go-to die set for me!)

Wow!  That was a lot to say!  I have provided you with the list of supplies below.  If you click on any of those images, it will take you directly to my online store where you can purchase these products to make this project or anything currently offered by Stampin' Up!  Have fun crafting!!
